Barbie Joins LinkedIn

Ali Diehl | @alitherealdiehl So you think your resume is long? LinkedIn’s newest member boasts more than 150 impressive careers.

Barbie (yes, that Barbie) has joined 300 million of the world’s business influencers on the online resume site. Her new business is “Dream Incubator” where she acts as a consultant “helping girls around the world play out their imagination, try on different careers, and explore the world around them.” The company’s tagline reads, “If You Can Dream It, You Can Be It!”

Users are encouraged to follow Barbie for business inspiration. She also shares news about her company, social media updates, and her (very lengthy) resume. Her resume is prefaced with the confession: “While a one-page resume is best, I can’t seem to get mine under twenty. It’s just that when anything is possible, a girl is tempted to try everything she can.” Follow her page here.

The LinkedIn takeover is in honor of Mattel’s launch of Entrepreneur Barbie this summer. The doll comes with a tablet computer and a smartphone; of course she needs to have her own LinkedIn Profile to help her stay connected to her business colleagues!

Barbie has come a long way from her California roots to make your resume dull in comparison.

Do you think Barbie joining LinkedIn is the beginning of an influx of fictional characters scrambling for publicity on the business site?
