by Ashley Chimal | @prodbychim Pheed describes itself as "a new social media platform soft-launched on October 1, 2012 from Los Angeles, California by a group of friends from the technology and entertainment community."
Sound like another social networking site? The website differentiates itself by adding specific and different sharing features such as audio clips, voice overs, and live-broadcasting to the mix. Users are also able to copyright photographs with each post, unlike other websites, giving images automatic watermarks.
Forbes has described Pheed as a Twitter with a business plan, and also mentioned that it is definitely makes the list of social networking sites worth paying attention to. The new platform raises several questions, such as how many celebrities Facebook fans will actually pay to view an event or subscribe to celebrities' content?
One of the biggest advocates of Pheed is celebrity Miley Cyrus. The singer began using Pheed a while back, and other celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon, such as Paris Hilton, Chris Brown, and Ashley Tisdale.
Pheed is a great example of how social media is rapidly evolving. What are your thoughts on new and innovative social media platforms such as this one, and which qualities do you think allow certain platforms to remain long-term, such as Facebook and Twitter? Do you prefer using the most popular and traditional form of social media, or do you enjoy exploring new ones?
