Why Your Company Needs Customized Social Media

14 Feb 2013 / 0 Comments / in B2C, business/by Taylor Wilson

Whether you work for a Fortune 500 company or work as a small business owner, today’s consumers expect your business to have a presence on social media. In a survey conducted by Allstate and the National Journal, 59% of social media users said a company’s social media activities make the company appear “accessible and responsive.” Creating a Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn account is free and these sites are the perfect place to deliver a customized experience for the consumer.

By setting up a customized Facebook or Twitter page, your business will have the opportunity to directly engage with customers in a quick and personal manner. Frequent status updates and tweets about what’s happening with your brand or business is a good start. Featuring specific promotions or events can help your company become a part of the local community. To go a step further, interact with your customers by commenting, replying, and retweeting. Starting this personal conversation allows customers to get to know your company better. When consumers develop relationships with a brand, they share their experiences with their friends and followers allowing these platforms to become gateways to a wider audience for products and services.

When customers use Facebook or Twitter to talk about their experience, companies have the perfect opportunity to publically address the issues being presented to them. Whether a customer is making a suggestion or criticism, when your company listens and responds to the issue the customer begins to feel invested in the business. This helps your company create a brand that is dependable and accessible which in turn helps produce an active consumer loyalty.

A customized LinkedIn page allows you to showcase your company in a professional environment. Including a page for careers will help attract talent from LinkedIn users who may be looking for new opportunities. Joining groups and participating in discussions expands your network.  This platform is a great opportunity for your company to share posts from Facebook or Twitter and help followers and visitors learn more about what you do.
